From One Dream to a Movement
Since 2017, Maidan has been breaking the cycle of poverty through
free, quality education in Karachi. What started as a young girl’s thesis
became a non-profit changing lives.
THE PROBLEM WE EXIST TO SOLVE
Illiteracy traps millions in poverty.
The current literacy rate of Pakistan is 62.3%.
This means an estimated 60 million people cannot read, write, or access economic opportunities. Children grow up without foundational skills. Adults are locked out of better-paying jobs. Families stay trapped in cycles of poverty.
The problem is clear. The solution is education.
At Maidan, we tackle this crisis head-on through two powerful programs: Taleem Ghars (learning centers for children) and Silai Ghar (vocational training for women).
HOW MAIDAN BEGAN
A playground for learning. A dream that became reality.
Over 2 years, that dream grew into something bigger. Today, Maidan is a non-profit organization running 3 small education centers (called Taleem Ghars) in rural areas of Karachi. But we didn't stop at children.
